I am a volunteer with the Roy Castle Lung Foundation and have been for nearly 3 years now, I volunteer in the shops as a 'Variable Temp', meaning when managers are absent for whatever reason I will assist the other manager in the running of the shop. As a volunteer I believe that my confidence has grown with regards to speaking with various customers and that I have also learnt to become more assertive in my role and to ask for help when needed.

Within my work at Roy Castle Lung Foundation I have been involved with setting up and taking part in many fundraising events and through these it has encouraged me to look into a career within fundraising. Volunteering on the roof garden in the Guild has been one of the most rewarding and invaluable experiences of my first year at Uni. It's a great feeling knowing that we are making a difference to the local community and providing quality food and service to other students in the University.
