I am a volunteer with the Roy Castle Lung Foundation and have been for nearly 3 years now, I volunteer in the shops as a 'Variable Temp', meaning when managers are absent for whatever reason I will assist the other manager in the running of the shop. As a volunteer I believe that my confidence has grown with regards to speaking with various customers and that I have also learnt to become more assertive in my role and to ask for help when needed. Stacy Daly – Roy Castle Lung Foundation Volunteer
Within my work at Roy Castle Lung Foundation I have been involved with setting up and taking part in many fundraising events and through these it has encouraged me to look into a career within fundraising. I would encourage others to volunteer to gain invaluable experience not only to help with your future but to gain an insight into something new and different along with meeting new people. Stacy Daly – Roy Castle Lung Foundation Volunteer
Volunteering on the roof garden in the Guild has been one of the most rewarding and invaluable experiences of my first year at Uni. It's a great feeling knowing that we are making a difference to the local community and providing quality food and service to other students in the University. If you can spare 5 minutes, I'd recommend it to anyone! Sam Reeve – LGoS Roof Garden volunteer
My 18 months working on the Big Issue 'Creative Writing Project' have been fantastic. A lot of my opinions have been changed. I joined expecting to teach things and instead I have learned. I have learned that most of the guys who sell The Big Issue are geniuses, that they know more about poetry than I ever did and that the more I learn, the more I realise there is for me to learn. Kay Fitzpatrick – Big Issue Creative Writing Project
Volunteering is an excellent opportunity for all involved, I have learnt so much so far in so little time, skills that will last me for life. Emma Blunsum – vtalentyear Volunteer
Volunteering is a fantastic opportunity to brighten your future. Paul Theobald – vtalentyear Volunteer
