Calling all potential marketing people, copy-writers, film makers, editors, sound technicians, web designers, bloggers... we need your skills and creativity!
• Attending events and work parties to document what’s going on • Writing and sending out press releases • Working with our British Waterways, The Waterways Trust marketing departments and other marketing volunteers to get your work seen and heard in the papers, on the TV and Radio, and online • Work with other young people to help them express themselves trough the media and get their views across • Update our website, blog and social networking groups • On the creative side, you could be making short films, plays, radio broadcasts, articles, blogs or pieces of creative writing about the people and places of the canal network – whatever aspect of it most catches your interest. • If able to travel to Ellesmere Port, you could be a key member of a marketing group set up specifically to promote the National Waterways Museum • Contribute your knowledge and experience to creating a strategy for how British Waterways can further use their media presence to give young people more of a voice .
Full support from project staff. If working from the Museum you will have access to our computers and basic photographic and film equipment – though if you have access to better technology you are free to use it!
Develop your existing skills, learn new ones or just have a go at different activities and see if its for you - this is perfect experience for a career in media or marketing.

Waterways Action Squad

The Waterways Trust is working closely with British Waterways on an exciting new project, the Waterways Action Squad. The main aim of the project is to increase youth involvement and improve young people's attitudes towards waterways. Over 570 volunteering opportunities will be created throughout the project, forming a diverse programme of activities for 16 -25 year olds and enabling the young people involved to develop a wide range of practical and life skills. We want to restore, protect, promote and enjoy our waterways through conservation, monitoring, restoration, art and interpretation.
